Two important court decisions have been issued in the past year affecting the credit or compensation that solar customers receive for net excess electricity going back into the grid to the electric utility.
Not quite a year ago, the Indiana Court of Appeals on Jan. 28, 2022 issued an order or decision reversing and remanding the CenterPoint order issued by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) in the first of five (5) investor owned electric utility orders to replace net metering with an Excess Distributed Generation (EDG) tariff. Next the Indiana Supreme Court on Jan. 4, 2023 issued an order reversing the decision by the Indiana Court of Appeals. See https://public.courts.in. gov/Decisions/api/Document/ Opinion?Id= cXVRn9l4RRuao6Alo0z2K0A1N5fw- Ckt_Co-Uav-jyv8MF9JXl8sz_6h2_ 6XWAIK0
Please read and share these orders with your state legislators. Next urge them to fix this problem during the 2023 session of the Indiana General Assembly. The future of rooftop solar depends on you.
